My dad and Jude often go for long walks. I imagine they talk about important things like their shared love for ice cream and the meaning of life. When my parents came for a visit this afternoon, my father came with a gift for Jude—a new pair of rain boots. It had only just finished raining, so the two of them went off to find mud puddles.
Whatever else they found remains a secret between children.

The shirt Jude is wearing was my shirt when I was his age. My mom saved it all these years for some unknown reason (she’s not really the sentimental type). You probably can’t see the writing on it, but the shirt says Raymond County Fair. When I was Jude’s age we lived in Utica, Mississippi, which is not too far outside of Jackson. Anyway, last night Jude wore this shirt to the fair where we live.
Pretty rad, huh?
Jude and Winnie found an old pile of leaves and had a grand time!
Being a super hero is hard work…
