How hard is it to NOT take a knife to your helpless newborn child’s genitals and slice and tear away at them until they bleed? Who in their right mind could do that to their own child? Usually I’m as nice as I can be about this topic, but this is so out of hand. It’s horrific. WHY is this not illegal yet?! Oh yeah… $$$. I understand you/your husband is circumcised and “he’s fine”, but you do NOT have to put your own child through it just to make yourself feel better. You ARE missing a useful part of your body. You had a perfectly healthy body part removed from you WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT. You’re “fine” because you don’t know what else to be. Swallow your pride. Admit you aren’t perfect. DON’T let someone CUT your baby. PROTECT THEM! YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN!

Please inform how NOT cutting your child’s genitals for NO medical reason (no health organization in the world recommends circumcising newborns! Not one!) would take away someone’s right to privacy? That’s just about the dumbest argument I’ve ever heard. You’re taking away a boy’s right to genital integrity and autonomy when you make a decision for him. We recognize female circumcision as genital mutilation and make it illegal - why don’t our boys deserve the same protection?

While I understand your side, there was no need to attack me for my opinion. By making something like this illegal, it DOES violate your right to privacy. As a mother to a child, you are responsible for making choices for your child. Some people agree with it, and some people don’t. Its a matter of opinion. But the thing is, circumcision is a decision made in the privacy of your life. If we make things like this illegal, why don’t e just make abortion illegal while we’re at it?

WE DO MAKE THINGS LIKE THIS ILLEGAL. Female circumcision was made illegal in 1997 under the Female Genital Mutilation Act. Many parents argued that this violated their religious rights to circumcise their daughters, but the law was passed anyway because we realized that our girls deserved that protection regardless of the parents’ religion or other beliefs. So why in the hell do boys get left to suffer?

Female circumcision and male circumcision are SO NOT THE SAME THING. If you wanna rage against male circumcision because you think it’s cruel or should be the choice of the person the penis belongs to—great! Go on with your bad self. But for fuck’s sake, stop using the female circumcision analogy. It’s not the same, it’s not done for the same reasons, and it’s a ridiculous way to argue against an otherwise valid argument.
