My great-grandmother, whom I called Nana, drove a 1928 roadster just like this before her first child was born in 1931. I’ve heard romantic stories about how Nana used to zoom around town in her little convertible, her stylish bobbed hair blowing in the wind.
The protagonist in the book I’m writing (I say “writing” but I’m mostly in the research stages) will drive a car like this. I’m borrowing many personality and style traits from the women in my family, but I’m using my Nana, Pauline Hope Roper, as my muse. This car says so much about the kind of lady she was.
I hope I do her justice.
